I just wanted to say thanks to all of you who have come through the ranks of Black Mesa. Even if we've moved on to other corps or other games, I'll still count you guys as friends!
Does anyone else have the feeling that Eve is becoming a grind? I let one of my accounts lapse (Lord Klyde) and I am wondering if it is just me or is it more common than I think.
So for those of you who haven't been paying attention.. We've (even if just temporarily) implemented a 10M isk per month bill for each character. This has been done so we can afford the (possible) 500M isk alliance bill which will be due at the end of the month. But after Saturday's planned and Sunday's impromptu ice mining op in 6L, we may have a few ways of paying this bill on just the corp wallet, or atleast lowering the per character amount.
Even with the low participation on the ice mining ops we were able to bring in about 100M worth of Ozone, Isotopes, and Strontium. That was about 350-400ish blocks total. I know Malk probably has the exact numbers. So you could imagine what we could do if we had 6 or more mackinaws out there instead of just 3 macks , one hulk, and one retriever.
Anyway. Just so you all know, we're expecting each player to take care of their share of the alliance bill. Until we hear otherwise, we're going to assume that alts are also included in this, so each character will be responsible for 10M isk. So, I (Krandor) will be responsible for 20M isk, where as someone like Malk (who only has his one character) will only be responsible for 10M. This is done just in case we do need to pay per character, and not per player. If it turns out it'll be per player, we'll figure out a way to credit those who paid for their other characters (maybe have the extra isk go toward another month).
There have been some other ideas brought up on how to pay the bill, which we will discuss on the corp forums. Go there and please let us hear your input!
For those of you who think you'll have trouble making 10M for the corp bill, please say something! We'll be sure to help you out in some way. Spoon and I go ratting in 0.0 pretty much nightly, and you're welcome to join on those runs. Plus it'll work on our team building

The hyperlink doesn't work, but if you copy and paste this link into your browser it will take you there...honest.
I strongly suggest that you log onto the test server and check them out first hand. A buddy of mine showed me some of the stuff he was doing on the test server and it was...what do you kids say now...sick!
The pros to using one of these clients should be pretty straight forward. 1)You don't have to log into the site to make a post 2)You can save your drafts locally (if the client supports it), so you don't have to worry about other people looking at what you're going to be writing about (like me ) 3)It makes life simpler 4)There's a list of pros on the client list page (linked above)
If you have any questions or want an opinion on what to use, just ask me here, on the forums, in corp chat, or send me an eve mail.
As of right now, i've only used Deepest Sender (for windows) and Ecto (for mac). Right now i'm liking Ecto a lot, though i haven't really messed with it that much. Deepest Sender is also available as a Firefox Addon, so that's pretty convenient. You can do your own research into each of the clients (there's plenty of choice) and decide what fits your tastes best.
I thought it would be neat to set up a blog for Legion members. It might not go anywhere, or it might spark a phenomenon, who knows?
You can sign up and become an author. Then you can post stories about your exploits, accomplishments, ambitions, dreams, rants, whatever you like. It's the Legion Blog, take your part.
With more of us heading out to 0.0, and many of us being quite noobish to living out there, I thought it would be prudent to point out some major survivability tips.
Tips 1) Watch Local -if you can't tell who all is in a system without needing to scroll, you should move to a system with fewer people in it. -anything not blue is the enemy, if someone shows up, safe up and cloak, or warp to a friendly POS, or if it's feasible get to a station and dock up. (or if you feel like pewpewing, join a defense gang) 2) Watch the Intel channels -Keeping an eye on them you will be able to track enemy movements. Once they get close to where you are, get to a safe place and wait them out! (or if you feel like pewpewing, join a defense gang) -Just because nothing has been posted, doesn't mean a system is clear, ask for intel before heading out. If no one answers, don't assume it's clear 3) MWD is your friend 4) Be paranoid, someone IS out to kill you.
0.0 is different than empire in a lot of ways 1) There are no station guns at player outposts or gates 2) There is no GCC (Global Criminal Countdown) for engaging someone, but you do get an aggression counter (which keeps you from jumping through a gate or docking at a station for about a minute) 3) You do not get aggression for taking loot from someone's can or salvaging it. Still be polite and ask though. 4) Bubbles are DANGEROUS! You cannot warp if you are in one, even if you have nothing but Warp Core Stabilizers fitted.
Basically saying, if you're running on older hardware (Radeon 7000 series or GeForce 2 series), you'll really want to upgrade your stuff. Then by next winter you'll want atleast a Radeon x1300 or GeForce 6 series card.
We'll see what happens. But I thought i'd just give everyone a heads up! Incase there are any of you out there with antiquated equipment.
updates from in-game: goons have been disbanded then reformed into two alliances- former BoB (IT Alliance) are now the largest alliance in the game and have delve+querious+fountain with allies taking up period basis . lastly W.I. has lost its hold on geminate after deploying to pure blind with the nc to clean up the tri mess...that is all
yeah, i got a new job. I started earlier this month.
I don't know what northwestern is (i'm guessing a college), but i would say anything higher than a 3.0 is good. I graduated highschool with something like that and i was able to get into any of the state schools i wanted. GPA along with your test scores (ACT/SAT) will be the big factors for school admission.
